Londen, 1968. Regisseur Alphonse probeert zijn grootste filmwerk tot nu toe te voltooien, getiteld ‘The Death of Don Quixote’. Maar zijn ouder wordende ster, Patrick, is ernstig ziek, dus het is onduidelijk wat het eerst zal sterven: zijn visioen, Patrick of Don Quixote.
